The US Spec is 1,975 lbs with 187hp.

Most accepted calculations bring the ET to 106.6xmph. It's a bit more difficult to estimate 1/4 mile times due to all the variables but depending on the formula the calculations come out between 12.780 and 13.567. I'm not really sure how Elise came up with the 12.1 1/4 mile estimated time but who knows.

I agree that almost anything could use more power but I really don't think the car is extremely underpowered.
Going by the impressions of a guy who drove one. ChuckRT10 got the opportunity to drive on of the demos and wasn't impressed. Now I realize that this is comming from a Viper guy but still I will take his word forit since he is a pretty expirienced road racer. I imagine that car powered by a SC 3800 V6 like what comes in the GTP/Impalla/GS would be a hoot as well.

I'm fairly sure that ChuckRT10 didn't drive the US-Spec vehicle. The vehicle that was used for the demos had a bit less power compared to the US Spec. The power specs on the 2003 (which if I'm not mistaken the demo car was a 2003 UK model) are between 120hp and 156hp depending on model.

Good god - It's not all about power. and sports cars are not all about going in a straight line. Balance - braking/acceleration/cornering ability. You need to go an drive a formula ford - or a 125 shifter kart. I'd be interested to see how underpowered you think those are!

Just don't go telling them damn z06 owners that the 350 can't be used in a sports car. They would be shocked to find out that it has no place on a roadcourse.

it should have the S2000 engine i think though... there is a kit car i've seen around that has those.. or a hyabusa engine that is pretty damn quick.

ultimate elise would for me.. to put a stock Lecacy Turbo engine in it (the 2.2) with a few tweaks to make it about 280 HP
you dont NEED that much power in that car though. They put the celica motor in the car for a reason. Its fast enough sitting in that tin can of a shell. besides, the elise is a handling car, not a straight line. although it would be cool to see a big ass motor in there.. :o

Its about conquering the beast.. once i conquer 750 in a street car..i know i'll want more.. but for now.. 750 in a 3500 lb car is the mountain i want to climb.

if you make it a 2000 lb car i want 250-300.

though for me, you'd have to change it to 10 inches, and you'd have to change inches to millimeters, and you'd have to change 10 to 5 and you'd have to change dick to poor excuse for one.

I'd have to do a 4G63 swap, but I'd rock one. It would be a lot of fun with a nice
Evo III 16g setup putting out mid 300's to the wheels. And it wouldn't be an issue getting it to rev higher than the little toyota engine- wouldn't want to take away the high-rpm fun of a little sports car like that.
