Actually just the opposite! Hot cars - marginal AC if they had them, Marginal brakes. Most overheat, especially in Florida. Steering can get real light at speed. Easy to swing the rear around, trailing throttle oversteer in a big way! Had a buddy in Texas with one. Noisy, raw, fast - you really get the sensation of speed with a 351 punding away inches from your ear!

A fun toy, but don't try and live with one as a consistent driver...

Good pick up Turbo C-YA - thought that didn't look like a Pantera - forgot about the Mangusta!

Anybody hear of a Bricklin? Gull wing doors and a 351 Windsor

Actually one of my favorite all time cars using the ford 351 as a base is the INTERMECCANICA ITALIA - A sexy exotic that you can go to discount autoparts and pick up spares (for the mechanicals at least!) - sorry - I digress!

i was wondering why the car in the first pic looked so much different from the two in the second... i thought maybe they were just different years/body styles or something... i don't feel so stupid now lol.

the first pic is a 1967-1970 detomaso mangusta.
the second pic is a 1996-up detomaso guara with a 4.0L DOHC v8 producing 305hp and has a 6speed getrag trans.

also, i was wondering how this transmisson worked from the older pantera?

lol...that's the same kind of shifting that the '78 Datsun someone on here was selling shifted. Reverse was where 1st gear normally is, then 1st is down (where 2nd normally is) 2nd, 3rd, 4th, then 5th for lower right.

Interesting cars.
There was one that showed up at an autocross last year I think. Looked and sounded badass but ate up more cones than I've ever seen in a single run.
