bimmer will be easier and cheaper to fix than the porsche for $15k
Wrong! A 1984-1989 Carrera is very easy to work on - dropping the engine is basically four bolts. I just replaced the front brakes and rotors and exhaust on my 87 - piece of cake - and much easier than 90% of the cars I have owned - including a few chevy's - Alfa romeo that was a bitch - BMW - various fords, etc. The easiest was a Triumph Spitfire. Pull the hood forward and sit on the front tire to work on the engine. 'course the SU carbs were a bitch to keep synched -

Spitfires are very fun cars to drive I can sell you one very cheap but they dont have a backseat.
