I used to drive cars for a while part time for Imperial Auto Auction in Lakeland, and I drove quite a few Kia's and Hyundai's there. There were some real shitty cars out there sometimes and I think some of the Kia's and Hyundai's were among the shittiest. Don't get me wrong, there were a few that were in decent shape, but for the most part, they just didnt seem to hold up very well... even with relatively low mileage on them.

not trying to be an asshole but The Elantra will get 300k if the person does proper maintainace... that's the Key just like that guy with the Volvo with a million miles on it he's done proper maintainace i have a friend with a volvo with only 120K on it and the engine Blew he did not do proper maintaince...

Also i can go 865Km on a 55L tank of Gas on the highway and i get 650 in the city on 55L

If you slap on basic mods
I/h/e + hyper wires + TB coolant bypass it runs at 140whp and 141 fp/Torque @ the wheels

So what's not to like? ive also heard of some people Buying thier Elantra Gt for 15k USD or just the base for as little as 11k

Also what they'er saying about the Hyundais doing good break out the newest Consumer reports mag look at the Elantra Page it gets a Perfect score the only thing it doenst do well in is Resale which we all know sucks ass. but hey i dont want to sell my car it's just too much fun ! also note with the V6Tibby rear sway bar you can push the car Hard so hard you begin to laugh uncontrolably from the addreniline going through your body it's a fun car trust me !! ive gone in to 4 wheel slides many times and not out of Control one bit soo everyone has their opinions about Hyundais but as the car company says "Driving is Beliveing" + look at how many options you get Compared to other car companys ...

Ohh Ps ive Test driven the New Ecco Hatch back sport model which actualy has the same 15" mags as the 2k3 Elantra GT anyways test drove the Ecco and it was nice however the suspension was crapy compared to the (Elantra GT sock) when you corner hard it leans really bad.. new sway bars and springs will solve that prob tho so get them to take off say 600$ or tell them to swap out the old suspension for them to make a deal

Oh yeah there's Tones of guys that will tell you that the Elantra is the best car they've owned we also have guys that own other cars like Corvettes, camaros, Nissan maxima's which also own the Elantra as a second car and they love their Bigger and better cars but also love the Elantra as well...

another thing is i'm part of a Mixed car club which has nice cars like Lexus IS300 , G20T's , Mazda 's , Honda's everything and on the "Fun Run's " my car keeps up and passes many of the club members with no probs Given the fact my car isnt stock anymore which helps a bit but still if i'm keeping up with and older G20T from 0-150km/h it must mean something...

soo all in all My opinon states Drive the car and make your decition dont bash a car which you have not driven

and use Common sence

Thanks it was brought up by a member of ElantraXD and i decided to give my imput i'm guessing he's already bought his car just wanted to state that People should drive a car before they give their opinion on it

Ive Driven an Acura TSX-S recently and it's a nice little car how ever it's almost 2 times as much as mine which seems to be only lacking atiny bit as for suspension and once i get a turbo i'll be able to keep up and pass TSX and still be under the Price of the TSX

over all i only wish the Tranny was a bit more Friendly it's finicky altho ive heard with the B&M short shifter makes it much more smooth

WOW, let's go grave diggin'. Since it's already been dug up, my .02 is if you deliver anything with your car, buy a freakin' beater for a couple hundred bucks and just get another when it gives up. It's cheaper than a payment in the long run, and you can keep the miles off your good car.

That tb coolant bypass has its share of major downsides to go along with whatever few hp you get out of it, you know...

 

Id be interested to know more about why the Coolant Bypass is not a good idea?


here is what ive gone through so far with it...

I and many other people have tested with and with out it with a temp gauge designed to read temp off a CPU it's a high heat type one...

Tryed at Idle with and with out we saw after the engine was up to temp 80Degrees Celsius Diffrence

Runing temp diffrence was only 65 Degreese diffrent i'm guessing b/c of the Cold air intake...

Also i live in Canada and there is a Risk of Freezeing the Butterfly open (wide open Throttle) Or CLosed Throttel However i have not experianced any Freezing issues....

as for Bypassing the Coolant which is bypassing aprox 350ml of Volume which did raise up the Coolant in the fill jar but did not go over max ... the New Hose going from the engine back to the enigne is made for a U shape and is not Kinked at all. hmm what other things are there or could there be problems with.... hmmm

All i know is the Temp diffrent in the Throttle body and INtake Manfiold is Enough to make a Diffrence in air intake Temps there is one person on www.newtiburon.com who dyno'ed his car with and with out and is not sure if it was an annomoely from run to run but he figured the mod is worth .5whp now honestly i dont know i'm not gona Claim more or less or anything but I know it does keep the air Temps down and when you have Cooler air you have Dencer and and Dencer air is = to more HP + the Coolent Bypass is a very OLD Skool thing and if they did it with Musscle cars why not do it with our cars...

But i'm still intrested in hearing back from ya... not sure if we should start a new post or just keep useing this one the call is up to you
