most of the hoods you will find mass produced are going to be carbon over glass and will be for looks if nothing else, if thats the look you want then even APC makes one, just do some searching they will pop up. A real carbon hood will set you back Big, depending on what you want. If you want something super trick, plan on 1300 to 1500, if its just a basic cowl plan on 800-900. I had a 4 inch cowl made for the race car we are building now and it was right at 900 bucks. As far as weight goes I can hold it over my head with two fingers in the center or stand in the middle of it depending on which one I feel like doing... The weight savings will be tremendous over a glass hood. I even had carbon gauge pods made before Autometer started making them. The real benefit to the hood is just being able to remove as much weight in the normal places it would end up, and relocate it to where you want it. This is a plus in class racing when you have a set weight, which is really the only reason I did it. Besides the fact that I love real carbon fiber. And honestly I respect anyone willing to put carbon fiber on their car, even if it is a bucket, what I fucking cant stand is when people are like" yo check out those carbon mirrors and tail lights on my ride G'" knowing its some plastic shit. Makes me wanna go postal.

I'm all about carbon fiber hoods as long as they're painted to match the rest of the car....

3 words...Saleen S R...(or 1 word + 2 letters)

one of the baddest mustangs ever built. i was planning on getting the SR Kit for mine (including doors, fenders, hood, drip rails, spoiler, trunk lid and front/rear bumpers) but when i called to order the sales guy at Saleen said they only make the front bumper, hood and rear bumper. total cost was gonna run about $4000 or something (its been a while).

And yes...i was gonna paint it (sorta...i was going to clear coat a flame design and fill the rest of the car in)
