mustang questions
I'm attempting to scrounge together a car for next years 2012 challenge and need some advice.
The car is a 93 shell, I have an IRS for it but I need to know what front end parts will interchange, as an example, can I pull the entire K-member our of say a 99 and have it bolt up to the 93? How about the rack?

The 94 - 98 and 99 - 04 kmembers will bolt up perfectly fine. Doesnt matter what year. The 94 - 04 V6 kmembers to my knowledge are the same as the 5.0. The 4.6 K would need to be drilled in order for the 5.0 to 'bolt up'.
You need to stay with fox a-arms though. You can keep the 99 - 04 spindles, hub and brakes. Just use fox (Length) a-arms with SN95 ball joints and you'll be fine.
The racks physically bolt up,.. but the fox and the sn95 steering shaft ends are not shaped the same and I think I read somewhere that they come up a little short when using an SN95 rack in a fox car. Also bare in mind that the tie rod ends on the SN95 rack will be longer. I heard that you can crowd them in and it would be fine. Or you can swap them out with fox tie rod ends.
You can physically bolt up the entire K and rack from a 99 and bolt everything into the fox. Physically they are interchangeable.
Oh,.. shocks. Since for what you are doing these are pretty critical,.. use fox struts. They are shorter than the SN95 struts. I have read where guys use fox struts in lowered SN95 cars for better handling. I would no use SN95 struts in a fox car ever unless it was just to roll a car around.

On the K-member swap, you may have to elongate the rear bolt holes that attach the K-member at the fire wall. We swapped a 2001 k-member into a Fox and that was the only mod we had to make. If you want to minimize any re-drilling or fab work look for a k-member out of the V-6 cars or a 94-95 GT which still had the 5.0 motor. The 5.0 motor will drop right in.
Hurstmeister is dead on about the control arms too. We tried fitting on the 2001 arms at first and had way to much camber, even with the camber plates at their minimum setting. Also try to use 94-95 spindles. They are the ones with the raised steering arm. Using the 96-up puts the tie rod too low and may cause bumpsteer problems. If you look at Maximum Motorsports (Maximum Motorsports, the Latemodel Mustang Performance Suspension Leader!) website they have a full page about which pieces work best with SN95 to Fox front suspension swaps. I believe they also have the correct linkage to connect a Fox steering shaft to an SN95 rack.

On a lowered cars the 96+ spindles arent really an issue. The tie rod lines up perfectly. Also when you use SN95 ball joints it raise the spindle up vs using fox ball joints.

That would be awesome, I'm planning to dump that into the 50 buck Fox with an IRS that I've scrounged. I also picked up a nice T5 and an aluminum flywheel and clutch assembly. The flywheel is a "50 ounce 302" so exactly what will that mate to?
