Software used by the dealer. It runs to a laptop or a stand alone unit like we had at the dealership. Could read almost every sensor in the car. That's how they found the bad coils on my Ranger and F150.

Ahh, is this "classified" software or does it make its way out to techs in the private industry?

I know a locksmith who has it for the programming of Pats keys and think a few small shops have had it. I think you can order it, not sure though.

Fuel pressure?, although the coil pack in my 3.8 crapped out as well it was intermittent but screwed up at the autocross one day. I'd check the compression as well, the plugs aren't that hard to get to.

Very easy! 4 bolts, plug and plug wires. Just be sure to put them back in the order they came off. Check the jubnk yard for a good coil, case that isnt the propblem you're not out but only $10-15 bucks. I found 2 brand new Motorcraft ones at LKQ on the same car for my GT.

im thinking that the fuel filter might be part of the problem. I changed my plugs today because i found out that NGK plugs run like shit in the stang. I changed the plugs out and in ran much better. It still misfires occasionally but Not hardly as bad as it was doing. It's not the coil pack because its not misfiring at idle.
