What causes this?

Hurst, I don't think they ever coupled the AOD with the 4.6. I could definatly be wrong though. I just don't know. I always thought they had the AODE on the 4.6.

I would agree with you. But,.. 91 - 93 Mustangs didnt have an AODE so it is theoretically possible. See if you can find a Lincoln forum and maybe some of those guys would know what is exactly in your car.

Newsflash:

Yesterday, the car decided for me what I have to do. I was on MLK at Nebraska....and it just quit moving when I stopped at the redlight. I had to have it towed home. The trans has reverse, but no forward gears...So now I get to go to LKQ and pick one out of a towncar there. Oh well. Better safe than sorry I guess.....I was glad it didn't happen on my trip to Louisiana last weekend!
