Default Random shaking in first gear ONLY

Yea so I got this issue with my 2003 ford mustang v6 manual car.

ONLY in first gear, and only happening when starting from a stop, the car will violently shake...it does do this in 2nd gear but only from a stop. Once the car is in motion the shake no longer happens, sometimes it does not occur when starting from a roll.

I can't figure it out and neither can my mechanic. We think its not a engine issue because hey, no check engine light. I thought about the possibilities of it being something with the tranny or the clutch/flywheel but if it was then it would do it in every gear no?

Any suggestions/help is appreciated, thanks.

How did you diagnose this...? If you have that kind of shake coming from the front end and its only at take off, speratically at that... Weird.

Clutch chatter? maybe a broken spring on the pressure plate?

I've had the case exapnd and the input shaft gather enough clearance to occaisionally whack the inside of the case. You can't miss it, it sounds like a massive "clack" and at first it only does it occaisionally. The road race guys have a case girdle that helps, but I cannot locate an example on Google. The other mod is this piece which is a rear case support.

Our vintage race Jaguars that we sponsor were breaking 5th gears approximately every 30 hours of race time. Since the addition of the Stabilzer breakage has been eliminated completely. These cars hit speeds in excess of 150MPH in 5th gear!

X2, sound like that and it would only really happen in first starting off.

How many miles on it?

she just hit 100k miles, and as far as I know the single previous owner has done no work on it, so its about time things will start breaking. I'll let my mechanic know about the idea of the pressure plate spring. Any other possibilities?

as far as diagnostics go, considering I still know jack shit about cars, I just doing a clutch test on it and throwing it in 5th gear with high rpms and the clutch didnt slip (which is good its brand new). As far as the other stuff the only thing I know is When starting from a stop, it shakes very violently. I took it to my mechanic and he suggested a vaccum leak at first, but when I finally dropped it off he claimed he couldnt find any leaks and so far he has hooked it up to a bunch of computer diagnostic stuff which cannot find any issues with the car.

Sounds like you need to find another mechanic, Has he felt the shake?
