Default Damn Cooling System!

I am at my wits end. I dont like how hot this thing gets with the Novi. I pulled off the Napa 2 core and put in a big almn FMS M-8005-C with a new 180 stat. It was running 168 deg down the interstate yesterday, w/ the AC on max. The AC quit on me (Had to replace the pressure switch on the dryer, AC back up and running) But while it was out I had to go by the bank. While in the drive thru it hit 225 deg, with no AC on. I have a new HD fan clutch and stock fan. It only has a new Ford replacement water pump. I have gold Flex a lite fan for a 5.0 and a Edelbrock HD High flow water pump I have not yet installed.

I am wondering if the AC condenser is stopping the airflow. It is 21 years old and is full of road grim, not to mention 2 paint jobs worth of overspray. I have a R134 compressor and am thinking of getting a new dryer and condersor, to switch it over to R134.

Sorry for the long rant. Any Ideas?

WOW that hot!!! I know most with LX's that run a front mount intercoolers run GT front bumper covers for this reason or drill all them goofy holes in the LX one for more aiir.

Have you tried an electric fan? They run full speed at an idle unlike belt driven.

It's a 1978 mustang? Call the junk yard. They'll dispose of it properly. J/K I have nothing of use to help you with...so I figured I would be mean instead. Have a nice day...It's a bit warm out today....Hope your "car" doesn't blow up. LOL

Dude, It is 88 LX.

Not a damn pinto!

You been in the beers again? I am!

I have been thinking of a front mounted pusher fan?

It never got this hot until the Novi, but duh, that thing makes ALOT of heat.

I am going to pull the condensor and see how it acts. If that does not make a diference I am going to go ahead and put on the Edlebrock water pump.

?????????

I might just sell the damn Novi and go to a 347 N/A set up.

Water pump is OK at best (Edelbrock), they avdertise more cooling but the T-stat is only gonna flow so much. I'd def look elsewere for issues

Flex-a-lite fans suck. I have the Mark VIII fan on my car... never gets hot at all.

You can find them on Craigslist or junkyard if nobody here has one laying around.

There were a couple of MK8's in the Clearwater Cophers the other day but I can't remember if they had fans still. A 4.6 TBird fan should work also. Just make sure you use a 30-40 amp relay to run it. Another thought would be to add some Water Wetter from Redline. I bought some at PepBoys a long time ago so not sure if they still carry it. Every little bit helps. If you get a fan and need help with the wiring PM me and I can give you the wire colors off of the one I have.

One more thing. You mentioned that the radiator and condenser had all sort of nasty's in them. I have used refrigerator coil cleaner on these with good results.
