Valve clearence would be more like a taping not a knock....but then again anything is possible. How does the motor run? If it was hiting the valve hard enought to knock those valves would be bent to hell by now and the motor would run like ass.

it ran pretty damn decent other than an exhaust leak.

see this is what makes me wanna stab someone, the sound was comin and goin for about 2-3 days. my original thoughts were valvetrain. my uncle said if the sound is coming in and then when u shut her down and start it back up and no noise it could be a fucked up lifter. but i replaced his lifters with a brand new set of mine. now its a hard knock.

Slow down a little Jeff on pulling it out, did you look at the push rods AND roll them on a smooth surface to see if any was bent? If it got worse when you changed lifters, maybe some was bent?

ok well i got my ex to chill the hell out and have the bike again and a full tummy lol.
but yeah jeff just give me a call. it's not looking to great outside so i dont know if you need me out there but if you need me now i'll take my chance with the rain. i will be there in the morning if all is good. but im putting my money on a bad bearing or me putting one on wrong. but to me it did sound like it was coming from either cyl 3 or 4

^^yea steve.

all the pushrods were in good shape tommy. its deff comin from the bottom end. i had my head right next to engine when he started it up the last time. its deff a knock from the bottom end. im gonna get a plastic gauge set and when we yank the engine, im gonna re-check the bearings threw the engine and platigauge em. the bearings are supposed to have 00.14 clearence on the rod bearings correct?

plasigauge, its wat sammy was talkin bout when he was out at the crib. measures clearence of the bearings to crank. u have to have a certain level of clearence on the bearings.
