New Cam!

Im looking to get a new cam for my 85 GT but I have no clue how to choose one. I want a lot of power and a loud as possible sound coming from it. Also can someone tell me what else I need to do when I get a cam changed? Thanks guys!

Depends on the other things you have done or are going to do. All motors have a max cam size you can put in before you start hitting things. I think your clearances are the same as the 87-93 motors if i remember correctly. If I am wrong someone please post it.
You can probably go all the way up to a F cam from Ford or something similar but not bigger from another cam maker.
But it will really depend on what you are trying to achieve.

Well one thing I learned is that the 85-95 blocks all can fit the same cam but I just dont know how to determine what I need still.

If you have made no major improvements to the air flow (heads intake headers) then just go with the B303 cam from Ford. If you have done some of these or plan to go with the F303 and a set of 1.6 rockers. That is about the biggest combo you can put in without any clearance concerns.
I can get all of these parts for you as well if you want them or any other Ford parts for that matter. I have a commercial account now with Ford and get a pretty good deal.

Im not sure what Flattops are but the 85s were the last year of the Carb and first yeah of hydrualic roller camshafts.
