the best 240 is subjective. go to www.240sx.org to learn more about models and differences. very helpful site

IMHO the S13s are the best looking best handling models of the 240SX. I also think theyre the most Jap-looking of the whole crew. Pop-up lights = performance!!

i have a 97 240 and most non- Nissan owners have no clue what kinda car i drive ( I personally enjoy this) i think the 97-98 are without a doubt the ones you should go for and for your earlier question i would say 36000 miles...for a 98

With the 240s here are my personal Preferences.

Youll want to look for an SE but its not manditory. They have the Limited Slip Diffy which makes drifting and powerslides oh-so-much-more-fun. Initial D has me addicted. You do however want a 5sp. We cant have any more airplanes flying around at the street races My personal vote will be for the sohc S13 as I know a guy who builds the single cam motors for SCCA. They like to rev higher then the twin cam when properly built. This however means quite a bit of work done to the valvetrain. When youre finished its lighter 12 valve sohc setup will enjoy 8000 rpm much more than the twin cam counterpart. If you were going to just keep the motor basically stock with only a few bolt ons my favorite would probably be the twin cam S13 coupe. Basically its a One-Via as the japanese call it and a very nice car overall. Newer S14s look very nice but OBD2 just takes all the fun away. Not only that but the xtra weight can take away the fun. My friends single cammed S13 eats the twincams simply because of the weight difference.
BTW. if youre going turbo ignore what i said the sr swap or even the ca swap is pretty easy to do.

eh if your looking for an s13 id reccomend basically what boostedz31 said. my stock lsd is great and my coupe is lighter than the hatch. i run bolt ons and a 100 shot wet port NOS and i run high 13s on street tires more if i got slicks...the car is a good performance car lacking a proper engine ala SR20DET. the ka doesnt do the car justice. im jealous charles!!! lol
