I like the odd and un-popular combo's as well. I would say to stick w/ the SVO, and get a nice turbo for it. But you really have to save up for it. You will never be able to drift effectivly using a mustang w/ an N/A 4 cyl. or N/A 6 cyl. You will still need the V-8. The 4 or 6 comes in handy when you are going to oval track or road course due to the weight issues.

The only "stupid question" is the one that goes unasked if you honestly don't already know the answer.

Don't get discouraged. You need to figure out what you want and what your goals are. Once you figure that out, you can formulate a plan to achieve it.

but back to th head question. looks like all i have to do is port out the intake mani as well?

You running carb or FI?

Also, did you have them bowl hog the head out for larger valves? If you did and you are running a carb, you may need to figure out how to run a larger carb.

it's fi. and no i only had the head ported. i didnt bother with anything else cuz now im not sure if im staying 2.3 or is im going to 3.8 or 4.9 .

You're gonna need a lot of that "extra cash" that you don't have lying around if you plan on keeping rubber on a drifter.

Honestly, I would sell the head and try to re-coup some of your cash. Then I would do a V-8 swap.
