Default Dizzy ish

I am converting my 5.0HO from injection to carb. I was hammering a cam gear off the end of the distributor I am using for the conversion and on the last whack(the one when the gear came off the shaft), the collar for the shaft split in half. I swear I didn't hit the collar. Does anyone know if the shaft of my F.I. distributor is the same size as a Motorcraft vacuum advance?
