Default So I did a compression test on the Cougar.

60 psi in the #1 cylinder, didn't even bother to continue.

I'll admit that I don't know much about Fords, but I did know the valvetrain is relatively non-adjustable...

...but didn't fucking realize, nor was I told by the machine shop that shaved my heads, that the valves will sit open slightly if the heads are shaved...

[sigh] I don't know what to do besides ask grandma and grandpa for a small loan to get something to cart me around, I'm worried about loosing my job. I don't even have a ride for tomorrow, nor do I even have money to pay for a dam cab!

/end rant

If thats the case, could a shim equal to the amount shaved be put under each rocker? There is definitely some way around this.

Yea I know, but I don't remember how much was shaved. From what i DO remember one head was a significant amount while the other was around 30...

I don't feel confortable shimming the rockers, so my buddy offered to 'lend' me his heads until payday and then buy them from him. Looks like thats the route I'll be going...

i'd either look for a new set of heads or what about thicker head gaskets? i don't know a whole lot about the 302's, but it might be a thought.

Wouldn't different length push rods solve this?

I'm a ohc guy so i'm not exactly sure what would cause his problem other then the push rod pushing the valve open a bit. If thats the case a set oif push rods can't be that much and should swap easier then heads.

Just go pick up someone's E7s for 25 bucks, spray 'em down with carb cleaner, buzz em down with a wirewheel, and bolt 'em up. Whats the big deal?
