More or less the frustration of throwing everything together only to rip it apart right away. I'll to anyway...

You are right, but my estimate is adjustable pushrods are going to cost a bit more then I want to spend...

So, after some searching, no adjustable pushrods are made for a 302...
Looks like a set of new heads are coming my way...

You could, but then you gotta figure out the right size, and hope there is one on the shelf that is cheap you can isntall, if not its paying some buckage for a custom ones. Shims are like $20

I think it's just me, but I don't really feel comfortable shimming the rockers.

Maybe if I had someone be around who has done it before it would make me feel more confident about the whole shimming.

more info is needed. what did you do besides machine the heads? hydraulic lifters will take up any amount of surface that was machined off.

and you dont buy adjustable pushrods, you measure the length and buy a set of pushrods, its cheap.

Bingo.

PM "Stang Stroker" on here. His name is Gator. He's in Tampa (Carrollwood), and I just gave him a set of E7 Heads with a Car I sold him. He may be able to sell them to you relatively inexpensively, as well as a matching "HO" Camshaft. The heads are not shaved, are true, and you could bolt them up, slap the cam in, and at least be driving around!

You CAN go buy adjustable pushrods seeing as crower sells them...

Any aftermarket pushrod is not cheap, let alone a custom size one.
Looks like I'll be grabbing those heads form Suicidal Racing on here though.

I did NOTHING that would change the length besides having the heads shaved. Rockers, pushrods and lifters are stock.

why did the heads come off in the first place? i have never seen a set of heads that were machined and then the motor didnt have compression because the pushrods were too long. you have another problem.

if you think its the pushrods just back off the rockers two turns and run the compression test again. if it comes back up to normal you have your problem. but like i said i doubt thats were your troubles are.

No one said adjustable pushrods cant be bought. You just dont need them when you can go buy some other ones in a shorter length.
