pm 86 stang he can tell you first hand how well converting an 86 harness works . Or rather dose not work. Go the painless route or get all the wiring from an 89 up car and retro fit the dash.

I did a bit of research and talked to a few classic mustang guys I know and one of them just did the swap in a 68 fastback. He is running a turbo 302 EFI setup. I am going that route... will keep you posted.

mine is an 86 and I have done a conversion with the kit and it works great, idles nice no problems. The harness comes with instructions and if you follow them exactly and take your time and do right it is easy. even kept my cruise control working.

I goota tell you though that was the last year of the carb. be nice to stay with it. just my thought.

I can't use that harness without re-wiring the entire car... not something I want to do.

im gonna carb the bitch.... too expensive and too much of a damn hassle to efi it... my buddy told me how much he spent to get a stock 302 into his classic and I about shit. My 393 put down serious hp/tq with a Demon RS 775 carb up top. I will be putting my victor 5.0 efi intake back up for sale.
