need help on igniton problem on an 89 mustang

Take a screw driver and with the key in the run position (make sure the car is out of gear) jump the solenoid. (Stretch the screw driver across the battery side of the soleniod and the small connector on the seleniod. Just pull the small wire off the soleniod for this test. )

If you do this and the car trys to start you have a problem with the ignition switch or the wire inbetween the ignition switch and the solenoid.
