need help on igniton problem on an 89 mustang
Are you getting power at the solenoid with the ignition in start position? It will be the small wire on the soleniod.

Another thing you might want to check. Is the ground wire hooked up to the engine? Theres a ground strap that bolts to the engine and to the body.

Are you sure your checking the right wire with the test light? If you have power going into the switch (Yellow wires) you should have power coming out if you turn the key. Yes you should run the ground strap. But I don't think the strap is your problem.
