Default What is my best running temperature??

you all know I have a 351w/C4 in my coupe. I have a FMS aluminum rad....electric fan on a stat....I have a 180 thermostat...the car runs about 200-215...when I am in traffic...85 degrees out and nailing it....is this a good temp? I compared it to my GMC truck wich runs at 210 all the time....thoughts?? I think I am cooling efficiently...of course when the weather is cooler...the car runs about 190....thoughts?? thx

With the c4 temps will be a little high in traffic,Chevys run hotter than Fords do,I would say your ok if it don't go over your 215 mark but don't let it get any higher.

Is the car carbed? If it isn't, then 190-200 is optimal...below 170 the ecu goes into closed loop and does not read off the mass air sensor from what I remember. If it is carbed, that should be fine, if a little high. I would throw some water wetter by Redline in there to get it down to the 200 max range. If you think it is running hot now, wait until the real summer heats pour on. The last thing you want is for it to overheat.
