Carb or EFI
Im fixing to have a 302 built for my Ranger in a few months, but i dont know which way to go. Its going to be a daily driver. ill have around 350hp when i get done.
Should i go carburated or EFI?
What would be benefits of a carb or EFI?
Here are some pics of my 1990 Ranger im going to put the 302 in .
It has a 2.9 V6 as of right now.
I plan on putting on Saleen 18x10 rims all the way around.
Tell me what you think.

How new of a Ranger? Explorer intakes are cheap, work well, and are made to fit Explorer/Ranger. I like EFI. You can make the power you want but if you're starting from scratch carb is cheaper.
To me its a preference. I don't care for EFI.... I love carbs. Easy as hell to work on and you don't have to chase down 32 sensors or 100 wires to find out why your running rich or why your engine won't idle. my 2 cents

i would say EFI for a daily driver type car, but it is really what you want to do, both have pros and cons, carb's are nice for wiring and such, EFI can help hunt down problems, but can also create them.....
either way with 350 hp NA, your going to lose some driveability with a 302........

^^^^ What he said plus when you do mods on a efi car you have to change multiple things downsteam to go with it (injectors, mass air, throttle body, new chip tune, etc.).. Don't let anyone tell you carbs are pains in the asses and need a lot of tuning because either is true. A carb car will always make a little more power than the same efi set-up.
+1 on the carb.
I have 3 wires to make the car work and 6 including tach sensor, oil presure and water temp.
Tune by ear if something aint right versus computer hookup.
Get yourself a late model starter too.

depends on how much compression, cam, intake...exhaust...ect
I have to agree with most of the previous posts in saying that you can't beat the simplicity of a carb setup. Easy to set up, maintain and most of all, easy to fix! No laptop or ohmmeter required....
