Tne newer Explorers are a little better as they use one bolt to retain the two lines. Mustangs are not that bad unless some header is all in your way of the steering shaft.

You still had it easy man 
Had to do one of my boss explorer, I got everything apart and left the acutal physical remove to him to do. Needless to say to get it out, had pull both inner tie rods off to get it to slide past the frame
