Default Steering rack location, how to move it?

Is there a Honda/Acura that has the steering rack mounted in front of the wheels?

My CRX has the rack mounted behind the wheels, and I'm looking for a way to move it to in front of the wheels...

If I have to design and build a system myself I will, but I would think that it would be easier to ransack another honda or other car that is allready setup for it.

thanks

if you moved the rack to the front of the wheels it will be sitting in the middle of your engine compartment.are you relocating the engine to the rear?

Probably for a transverse mounted RWD conversion or something. Other than that there is no reason I can think of to try and move it.

I would need to move it to pass a drive shaft under the car.

If I use a transverse front-mounted motor and a driveshaft from a CR-V or DSM AWD, then the shaft can go under the steering rack, but if I use a longitudinal mounted engine, the steering rack will have to go somewhere else. It's more to make room for the transmission than anything else.

I would never to a mid-mount RWD - I bought my car for the hatch!

Is there a front-mounted rack that I could use? I was thinking of simply moving the rear mounted rack in front, but then the steering would be reversed, and that would suck.

To my knowledge there is no production honda that mounts its steering rack infront of the drive line.

You are going to have to custom fabricate a steering system. Good Luck.

Hey man, don't take it as an insult, because it's not.

I think it's cool that everyone is so inquisitive, and I'm glad that people are asking so many questions. What kind of forum would it be if it were just Q&A?
