Are you absolutely sure about this? I've been under the impression that the Lincoln had the cast iron equivalent of the Cobra motor. If I'm wrong...cool...cheaper motor to be had. There is one sitting down at Cophers that I could perhaps snag cheap and store somewhere.

Dave, my costs are based upon what Ryan told me and some research I did online. The cost is probably about $2k over what I'd pay to put in a pushrod. I'm just wondering if the headaches of sourcing the hydraboost, powersteering, motor, and wiring up the motor is worth the extra hastle.

Hell, if you want a 302, give Adam $50 for that fresh roller motor in his garage. We can bring it home this weekend. Put a good set of aluminum heads on it and whatever intake you feel like and you've got a really good start.
From what I have read, the easy way to figure out the braking is either go with a hydraboost (you have to run powersteering) or go with manual brakes (manual rack can be used). I'm sure there are some custom avenues to be used, but these are the most economical/feasible methods.

Can you PM me the specs on that roller? I can't remember what was done to it.

You can use the stock Mustang oil pan. Not sure about the headers. I'd think the long-tubes would fit without major modifications. You do have to run an oil filter relocation kit though (no biggie).

Just how shitty are manual brakes? I've heard nothing but bad comments about them. Granted it won't be driven much, but I still want a safe car on the streets.

I think the newer GT's also run the hydraboost, so I imagine that wouldn't cost too much. SN95 racks are almost dime-a-dozen, so even that wouldn't cost all that much.

The more I research, the less the swap costs. I'm like the Kerry of Mustang owners.

So what would you say is the downfall of manual brakes? Boosted master cylinders were brought about for reasons...just curious what they are.

Mark, thanks for the info on the Lincoln motor. Going to see how much Cophers would charge me for the complete 4v sitting in their yard. What would you say a "good deal" would be on a Lincoln 4v (long block complete with injectors)?

Low miles on the lincoln motor? I would say between 1100-1500. Again that's a estimate. I haven't really looked for a longblock yet. All you would have to do is swap the intake and exhaust cams and viola you have a 96-98 cobra motor. -Mark
