Spec Racer Ford
Dunno if any of you guys know this history of the Escort 1.9. But there's a little known fact that the 1.9 was in the Spec Racer Ford for the SCCA. It was 109HP engine setup with the 1.9. Basically had a tune, some port work done by Rousch and headers.

I could slap a turbo on one of those 1.9's and pull 200whp out of it easy. Then they wouldn't be considered "slow" I bet lol.
Still interesting that Ford used the slowest POS 4cylinder they made for that car. They should've used the Escort GT 1.8 instead. Maybe that was too much power? .

No, don't get me wrong, the FORD was a vast improvement over the Renault POS.
They could've used the old 1600 Twin cam Cosworth engine out of the old Formula Atlantic series.
