He should take the 302 out and replace it with a 2.3T
The last time I went to the dyno there was a 302 on a 100 shot and our crappy 2.3T put down more hp/tq and the tq came in sooner with the 2.3T.

My friend Robert took his mostly stock SVO (3270lbs race weight) to Bradenton last Sunday. He drove the car 50 miles to the track, made 3 passes and drove 50 miles back home. He ran a 12.69 on 93 pump gas and street tires. Here's a video: 86 SVO Mustang Test-n-Tune - Car Videos on StreetFire

^ Wait...The first race the announcer said that you were racing a 95 Cobra Mustang 3-valver. WTF? Is that a special new breed that I've never heard of? 95 Mustangs had a 302 in them. No 302 that I've ever seen had more than 2 valves per cyl.

*edit* Oh, and he lost to the 95 Cobra with a 302.

But he's still faster than I am. Until I open the bottle anyway.

E7 heads on a 100 shot are good enough for a daily driver and stock T5. Much more and things start to break much more quickly.

Let me ask you,.. how would that 2.3T making all that HP do driving 700 miles a week in bumper to bumper traffic on I75,.. and then around town and for errands and such. Some how I dont think its that practical for a DD no matter how well it runs.

Can easily get a dart block,.. .030 bore, AFR 185 heads ported,.. a healthy cam, Edelbrock 5.0 intake and a nice little 300 shot to put it well past anything that 2.3T can make. My little 306 NA was making 340hp with a little 600 cfm carb. Hell look at Wendy's car,.. she was making 570 rwhp on the stock short block,.. with E7's.

My 93 GT and NA 306 with a 3600# race weight ran 12.55@110 NA. All motor baby and could have easily driven to and from the track,.. but I have a nice truck with much better AC and a nice car trailer,.. so why not.

Some guys like 4 bangers and thats ok. There is a guy in Portland Oregon running mid 11's at over 112 mph with an electric car. Thats ok too. What ever floats your boat ya know? But there are guys like me that will always prefer the V8 rumble,.. even if it means being a little slower,.. over a 4 or 6 cylinder any day of the week. The V8's can and do make more HP when the same principles are applied. There really is no substitution for cubic inches when it comes to drag racing. You can throw all the boost you want at a little motor,.. and the larger engine with less boost will go faster. Hell even with no boost.

LOL! You guys really take this stuff to heart, I'm just here busting your balls.
The 95 Cobra in the video had a 4.6 DOHC engine from a newer Cobra. Also the SVO was pulling him on the top end. You'll notice on the last 2 runs in the video that nobody wanted to run against the SVO. The announcer even had more respect.

They're not as bad as you might think. I've been daily driving mine for the last 12 years.

I can agree with that but sometimes that doesn't happen. Did you see the results at Hod Rod Drag Week 2009? Bang Shift : Event Coverage : Drag Races : Jon Huber Wins Small-Block Power Adder at Drag Week, With a 4-Banger!

Not only did a 4 banger beat everybody in the small block power adder class but also went quicker and faster than anyone in the big block power adder class.

1320Video - Drag Week 2009 - Wednesday

Drag Week Rules:
- Must carry all tools with you
- Only you and your passenger can work on the car
- You cannot tow your car between tracks
- You must hit all checkpoints on the drive
- Lowest ET average for 5 days wins!
