Yup, kinda like little bottle rockets under the hood. IIRC, the problem was the threads in the plug holes were a bit shallow...or not enough of them. They would eventually give up the ghost and "POOM...tink, tink, tink, goosh goosh goosh".

from my understanding, there wasnt shit for thread count for the spark plugs, so all that cylinder pressure would eventually rip the threads.
