Grab many apps as you can, print nice or type, always dress well even when just picking up the app as you never know who is handing it to you.

oh yes remember when you ask they all will say G.E.D. is ok and you can come and apply but do you get the job? Stay focused and maybe try night school for at least a 2 yr degree.

A ged is better than a high school diploma in my opinion most people I've meet are more drivin when they set out to get it after they dropped out vs people that just showed up and got a diploma I sorta have both didnt have enough credits to graduate, but past fcat so I got my high school diploma instead of a ged. Maybe they could work something out at your old high school orange county calls it exit option or something, it sucks missing out on the whole senior year. If you lived closer to orlando I could probably get you something in linework if you were atleast 18

You are 17 years old. You still think you know everything. I am marrying a former police officer who now is a licensed detective. You have the nerve to tell me I'm talking out of my ass?

Your the one on a computer begging for work. How are you going to be a cop,.. you can cant even handle staying and finishing school.

You have to not only pass the academy,.. then you still have to pass the state exam. Then you go through the hiring process and go through an oral board for the interview process. It can take over a year before even getting hired,.. if they do decide. Unless they have a hiring freeze. Plus your competing against people who finished high schook. Did ROTC in school,.. usually coming out of 4 years military police,.. or those wanting to be more then just a beat cop,.. those that took criminal justice degrees and law.

Your dreaming kid. You have to work to make something out of your life. Its not as easy as you think. Come back and let me know how it is once your not living at home and actually paying your own bills. The police academy is not free either unless you can get sponsored. Your not exactly hitting home runs,.. so you tell me?

SPFD has a list a mile long unless you're a firefighter-medic, then all you need is a pulse. You get to run 20 calls per 24 hour shift for the next 30 years of your life along with 54 hour weeks with no overtime. Still a player?
Oh yeah, you get to expose yourself to Hepatitus, MRSA and HIV,

line work (Power company) and dont listen to them about school yes a 2 year degree will help you but you can become a cop with only a high school or ged its possible. No you wont be able to just join up as a cop . You'll have to start working phones or community patrol accounting or something the apply within I know a few people working for the sherriff in orange county that did it that way. It's alot harder that way. Ever thought about the military you dont have to be army or marines alot of coast guard guys get police jobs when they get out because it is so close to being a police officer.

don't listen, yeah right , when he's older around 20's and he still has a GED, we can see how far it gets. I do agree on the Military would be a good choice at a young age. Law Enforcement as we speak or should I say type is changing. Heck HS was all that was needed to get hired a few years back thats changing. St Pete only patrol with HS, no matter how long you where in and no grandfathering either. I guess we could go on and on but at 17 I guess he can work at McDonals, Wendys or even Taco Bell (heck you ever see who they have working there)

Hate to say it, but GED *screams* lazy, trailer trash loser. May or may not be true, but that's the stigma that goes with it. And how the hell is getting your GED harder than staying in school? That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. Man up.

Go to night school and graduate early.

10 years from now, is there a chance you'll regret getting your diploma?
10 years from now, is there a chance you'll regret NOT getting your diploma?
