Hey Oldman.. PT II... 56K Death
I know, I am not sure if it is my weave or my heat... This was my first attempt in the 2G position... so it was slightly different than I was used to... and every now and then I get a "hole" on the bottom side.. what causes that? Lack of filler? If so, why doesn't it show undercut there also?
It's a little too much TIME on the top., and just enough on the bottom while you're doing the weave. As for the porosity, it COULD be that your gas isn't turned up high enough. Check your pressure. IIRC, about 25lbs should be it, but it's been a LOOOONG time since I've done TIG on the job.
If the gas is good and you're still getting porosity, check to see if you have a side wind at times.
If not, then it is likely just dirty metal/filler rod. If your filler has ANY rust on it at all or even corrosion, then trash it and get a new piece. (or better yet, give it to someone else) LOL TIG has to be VERY clean in order to weld. MIG and SMAW not so much, but TIG is finiky.
You will... I told little Smoke all the answers last weekend!
