The welding looks good BTW, especially for just starting.

Well I made progress today.. and I made several brain farts... LOL..

First off, I was eager to get some welding done, so I could get ahead of the game... so I started welding in the 2G position... (horizontal) but upon doing so, I don't know what I was thinking but 1) I forgot to tie my beads together... 2). I didn't use 1/8 filler rod... 3). Forgot to start in the 1G position, so I could take my first 1G test...

After all that was said and done, I did run a bead on piece so I could take it home, so the whole day was not a complete loss... I did get some more time on the machine and I did learn what NOT to do.. LOL..

Here are a few pics of my last piece of the day..

Side view...

Smoke, you're still having an issue with undercut on the top of the weld. The bead looks good, but try to cure the undercut and you'll have almost a perfect bead.

I know, I am not sure if it is my weave or my heat... This was my first attempt in the 2G position... so it was slightly different than I was used to... and every now and then I get a "hole" on the bottom side.. what causes that? Lack of filler? If so, why doesn't it show undercut there also?

Brian,
Don't get all excited yet.. LOL... I have a good bit to learn.. but I would be more than glad to when the time comes and I am out on my own and have the require creditials and equipment..
