^like he said, playing devils advocate.. also I think he makes some very valid points, many might not agree with but it's a view that has to be taken into consideration..

LMFAO!!!!!!! There are some racist ass people on this site.
You realize that what you posted is 100% one sided. Do you think that for one minute that there are not people of other races that hold high positions of own companies that will not hire white people...?
Let me tell you my little story about Mr Jordan. Everyone likes to talk about how great of a guy he is and how great a basketball player he was. Now Jordan was asked to visit a child in the hospital as part of the make a wish foundation. The child had cancer. Jordans response was, "Is the child black". With crap like that why would I want any programs to help them.. It obvious all they look out for is themselves, so why should I care about them. I say all special treatment needs to go away.

I didn't say that I liked it, but now that special treatment is there - if it were to be taken away, all of the racist people out there would keep minorities down even more.
Ever see the movie "Crash"? The point of the movie is that everyone is racist to some degree, and I tend to agree.

Everyone has some "simple" solution to fix all of these problems, but very very few actually think it through to come to what the realistic consequenses would be...politically, socially?
It sounds so easy to say, lets end special treatment for minorities. It's simple to say, block the borders and kick out all illegals.
All of our problems are so simple to solve, everyone thinks they have the answers.....

I see the big problem being that Minorities can publicly bitch, moan and cry all they want. They have an unrestrained voice, yet the second a white complains about being treayed unfairly by a minority they are crusified. Double standards do not work now and they never will and as long as we have them nothing will change for the better

Im going to play the devils advocate here...
Im cool with all of the black awards, days, whatever...even affirmative action, to a degree - here's why.
Listen to all of you. You're all bitter sounding and have a very strong opinion about other races (blacks) - but then in your next breath you say that affirmative action is no longer needed. Now, take into account that there are many many people who feel MUCH stronger about the issue than you guys/gals do. It's not because blacks/other NEED this special treatment to survive - it's that white people feel...well, like this thread. If you removed AA, there are plently of bitter white-folk that would use that as an opportunity to NOT hire other races. See, as long as there is AA and special treatment, there is animosity(sp?) being built up in some people. Because of this, you cant simply eliminate this special treatment - it's like a vicious circle - the treatment itself breeds more racism, while at the same time protects other races from unfair treatment. I don't see how it will ever go away.

You are right and wrong.
The most true part of your post is the second to last sentance.
Most of the people that have anger about this have been victim of it. I would be pissed off if I couldn't get a grant or scholorship because of my race. It is absolutely reversed on the white guys to where we are sectioned out because of the color of our skin. This is evident even in tv programming.
Now the more they do it the more people that are personally effected and the more tension it will built between the races. They need to kill it mostly off now before you truely start having problems.
I never owned a slave neither did my parents or thiers. I never did anything to hurt a black persons quality of life but they in turn have hurt mine and i'm starting to get pissed off about it.
Don't tell me to be politically correct and to keep my mouth shut about the issue or not worry about as that is like telling me to ride in the back of the bus and not to make a fuss.
"On December 31, 2005, there were 2,193,798 people in U.S. prisons and jails. The United States incarcerates a greater share of its population, 737 per 100,000 residents, than any other country on the planet. But when you break down the statistics you see that incarceration is not an equal opportunity punishment.
U.S. incarceration rates by race, June 30, 2006:
Whites: 409 per 100,000
Latinos: 1,038 per 100,000
Blacks: 2,468 per 100,000
Gender is an important "filter" on the who goes to prison or jail, June 30, 2006:
Females: 134 per 100,000
Males: 1,384 per 100,000
Look at just the males by race, and the incarceration rates become even more frightening, June 30, 2006:
White males: 736 per 100,000
Latino males: 1,862 per 100,000
Black males: 4,789 per 100,000
If you look at males aged 25-29 and by race, you can see what is going on even clearer, June 30, 2006:
For White males ages 25-29: 1,685 per 100,000.
For Latino males ages 25-29: 3,912 per 100,000.
For Black males ages 25-29: 11,695 per 100,000. (That's 11.7% of Black men in their late 20s.)"
And people wonder.

What I posted is less my opinion...I don't want to call it fact either, because I deduced it using common sense. Let's just call it common sense, based on the facts and the general "way things are"
Again, remember - there are people are are much more racist than yourselves (I hope!
) - alot of those are in hiring positions. As long as there is racism, there will be special "programs" to help even things out for minority Americans who wish to have a job, go to school, whatever.
Think it through. I'll give you one possible, realistic scenario:
Affirmative action goes away - fewer and fewer minorities (the ones to want jobs) cant get jobs that pay enough to support their families. They either go on public assistance or turn to crime. Maybe they will join an organization of other disgruntled minorities and cause trouble (NAACP???)
Regardless, they become a burden on society.
I'd go so far to say that there are very very few whites (that want to work) who don't have a job at all due to a minority getting it in an AA move. Now, it's more likely that some whites don't have a job that they WANTED, or a promotion that they wanted, but they have jobs.
Just so you guys know, I had these feelings even before I married my wife, who happens to be Mexican. She was born here and didn't have the easiest life growing up (very poor). She remembers as a young child, going to school and not knowing English, which she learned (kids learn so quick). She went on to be a straight A student and aquired one of the scholarships you guys are bitching about - which was made specifically for minorities (as many grants and such are) and went to USF. She now works a respectable corporate job and I don't think it's a stretch to say that she makes more than most of you...I know she makes more than me
My point is - she's accomplished and making a difference in her workplace...a working piece of society. She makes a good living and the Govt gets their investment back via taxes, instead of being a burden on society.
