Question your fav. drift car to build?

well I was woundering what the best drift car might be to build and why? so if you can give me your driving exp. with the car and what make's it a numbeer 1 pick for you and Im not talking some insain over price project somthing that joe avrage can afford....I know the AE86's and 240's are big but give me your veiw's the owner's and driver's why do you love to drive YOUR car? what make's the handling better and what realy turn's you on when you see said car swing sideway's???

it's safe to say the bug has started to bit down a bit and im kinda intersted in building a fun car for drifting and well I want to hear you veiw's the 2 car's nedless to say would the AE86 and 240 LOL my only concern with the AE86 is power...from what iv seen and heard is the dont have a hell of a lot of power and the stock engine dosnt have much ability of making power but from what i hear is the hanling is better in the AE....

and for the 240 I have seen great thing's and have had loads of fun watching taylor and jamie jamie build and drive there car's and customer's cars and have been wow'd buy steve's coupe as well as the 240 taylor built for john (RHD sr20) but anyway my intrest has been spiked and i would enjoy some info
thanks in advance folk's

Stick to what your good at and go rwd dsm, it takes a bit of transfer cases to go thru and a center diff or two, too bad you cant switch like the transfer case selection like an r32, that would be alot less hastle.

Hrmmm, well lightweight, easily adjustable suspension, decent weight distribution (somewhere between 55/45 and 40/60) wheelbase from 2500mm to2900mm is ideal, good selection of engines, and ideally a stiff chassis.

The 240 fits the bill great, but take my word, I know that Formula D and other series are getting tired of the Nissan-fest and are ACTIVELY trying to broaden the fields.

I seriously think a Starion is a great platform ( I have some experience with them, though not drifting) or an affordable European car such as 1992 or newer 3 series, or older 5 series.

Lots of parts available for American cars, but a light, RWD domestic with a decent chassis is RARE!

It really isnt about experience with a car, if you understand setup, and can make any car a good drifter.

LOL I would love to but i want to do this as a fun car, you know me I am a poor mofo LOL engine's I can get but the transfer's and tranny build's cost a bit more than I can handle the thought had hit me though a 1st gen awd drifter would be the hotness but I have a bad habit of being a
"creative driver" LOL I do have to say from some of the tranny's such as the wrx/sti setup's have realy hit me as a great achevment in the auto industry, I have had a few customer's who have desided to put there wrx's through more than they should have ever been through and come out still kicking!!! but im kinda wanting to build a spacific use car selection like a fun to drive daily such as my current project, civic hatch, a drag car probibly a eclipe's or somother DSM monster and a drift car as far as a starion ehhhh i dont know I realy just want to strip a car down and just build it not restor it to make it run IE: rebuild another starion wire harness LOL arggg..... but anyway keep it coming
thanks folk's

240 is the easiest, and least headache of all.
something cool would be an older 3 series, miata, or even a 93 and up 3 series.

I would like the idea of a bmw but I would like to keep the cost of the shell down to a minimum I have found a few 240's for around $1k runing I still want to get some input on other car's but chance's are probibly a 240 as you stated " the least headache" and Im figuring for a starter car the least amout of problem's the better....

Don't do a 240, it's too lame already. I almost want to scrap my project....

Since you apparently have DSM experience, get an AWD shell, or the whole damn car, and use the motor, bolt it to a D50 pickup truck tranny and carve the tunnel out a bit larger. If the fab work of the tunnel and welding is too much, I will come weld it for you, just cause I want to see something original!!
