the tires are very slippery when brand new, and a little bit slippery when cold.
you could almost rate them as dangerous when very new.
as soon as you start to put time on them ,they get good. they get better and better all the way to the wear bars. as soon as you are through the wear bars they start to come apart on you.

I was sceptical about the Kumhos at first as well...however, after a couple of hours on them I absolutely love them. Like Matt said, though...when they're cold theyre a bit slippery (even in the front) but once you get going they're fucking beautiful. I had the pleasure of destroying quite a few of the MX's and I'm sold on them.
