Just because some of you kids from tampa might not get 'invited' doesn't mean there's no event.
The promoter I am working with has ties with lots of professional racers -- even guys like Randy Pobst, Tony Kanaan, etc. There will be some big big names coming to the event with "real" race cars. I'm sure that some of the pro-truck and late-model oval guys will also come out. Those cars weigh... oh... 1800lbs and make 600WHP? I watched a pro-truck drift the whole track. As in the entire 1/3 mile oval.
Secondly, how retarded would it be if I competed in my own competition? I'm going to be a judge, not a competitor. I may go out and do some exhibition runs, but I am not competing. I've also put together a score sheet which makes the event almost 100% objective as opposed to being subjective. This score sheet will also apply at Beaver Run and any of the Sideways Salvation Series events.
I'm working with Matt on the invites, he's supposed to email me a list of heads.
It will be run similar to a "normal" drifting competition -- some practice time, some qualifying rounds, some eliminators, and then the "finals". No tandems though.
You guys sure do whine a lot.

Well listen.. I'll cut the hate out till I see something.. But i'm willing to bet that its 50/50 that nobody is going to be able to do anytihng that looks as good as the lot did.
Maybe you guys can overcome the power factor, and then I commend you, but its something I have to see to believe, the oval sides are extremely long corners and the best way to tackle them would be to have large ammounts of power..

for those not 'invited' or that 'dont have enough power', its not like there won't be more events in the future. This will make 3 events in under 2 months...why should anyone be complaining?
That isnt the point matt.... Of course people can drift them in parking lots and what not...... But thats not what i'm talkin about. A flat badly surfaced lot is not the same as a 25 degree sticky ass banked oval turn... Its going to require more power, plain and simple.
I'm gonna leave it alone and see if some people can end up doing it, but I was basing my thoughts on the evidence that DG Trials put out before. He moved the event to the parking lot LAST time because he said you'd need at least 220whp to do any sort of serious drifting on the big track. I also know that most of our drifters dont make that sort of power, so since 160ish KA is < 220ish SR... It seems unlikely that the KA's can do it.
If I see gefforie out there kicking it with 100whp, then hes a badass and deserves my props, I'll gladly give it to him, same with bill or any other driver that is usually the "underdog".
