also to pass on the inside in drifting requires not only the speed but the higher angle as mentioned....... so that is much more skill to not only have the speed but to pass on a track that is only 2-3 sideways car lengths wide... thats a tight squeeze, where as grip its 3-5 or more car widths wide with them driving straightwards....

If i pass the other guy, say even in a drift, but with technicque that is judged to be inferior then do i win?

 

passing isnt the whole game here .

its hard to tell unless you watch some of the d1 and or go to a comp .

you have to understand that if you have more flare(your ass end is farther out) and you are going faster while maintaining the same line as the guy in front of you , you are usually declared the winner of that round .

passing the guy in front of you if he is sideways and you are sidewyas usually entails you going into teh corner faster , you are suppost to flare sideways at the same point as the person in front of you . its a follow the leader tpye game , whoever plays it better , wins

Drifting is to cars as moto x is to dirt bikes, a free form up to ones interpratation..... Its almost the figure skating of motorsports. And if you drift to compete your in it for the wrong reasons.

Its like a free form, you should drift cause its fun, competion is good . But for me it's more of a free form expression . Like art with my car. I dunnno it's almost a zen thing with me.
