I removed them, purged and refilled with fresh fluid and capped them off. They are completely different, and the BR5 are a fine upgrade over the BR3:

BR3: Front 12.6" vented rotor, single piston caliper. Rear 12.6" Solid rotor (3/8" thick!!)

BR5: Front 13.6" vented rotor, dual piston caliper. Rear 12.6" vented rotorAttached Thumbnails

Impressive braking though. This rumble almost drowned out the hard braking slot purr.

Basically its just the ABS doing its job and to me a new experience. We have all heard and felt the ABS cycle during lower speed wet or sandy/gravel conditions.
During a panic 70 to 10mph on fresh dry pavement and good tires is a different animal. I thought something was wrong. The ABS has a much harder job to do under these conditions and this is what I heard.
I contacted a friend who after hearing me out said its normal and may lessen after more break-in and knowing I have a Foxwell ABS/Airbag scanner, out of curiosity told me to check for codes, try a brake pedal calibration, and see if it will initialize the ABS. He says if anything shows up I could lessen it some there.
So it gives me options, ABS Bleed Brakes, Initialize ABS, Calibrate Brake Pedal, and scan Codes.

If it will not initialize its already initialized. This mainly for replacing/repair ABS module work. It was initialized.
If the pedal needs calibration it will go through the steps telling you to press the pedal. If its already calibrated it will just indicate so. It needed calibration.

It found a code but before clearing it I used my HPTuners and OBDlink MX scan devices to see if they see it and they did not. There was no dash light. I have had my HPT and OBD devices connected recently with no codes shown and was curious. Interesting.
I reset it with Foxwell the scanner. For the most part if you have a dash ABS light your ABS is off line. I had a code but not showing on the dash.

After this it all settled down. It was there but lesser, and progressive in degree as I tried some panic 40mph to 5.

Now I have more of a normal looking bedded rotor with the Amber hue but can still see the machining. Feeling better now.Attached Thumbnails

georgiapiWe performed the ABS Bleed today. Originally purchased for my Silverado it doesn't open the system, it just cycles the pump. Its recommended to bleed, cycle, bleed. I don't put lost of stock into it because there is no circulation but if you have a soft pedal and everything else checks out it will help.

On the Charger it bleeds the ABS module to the front caliper line using its bleeder which is more like it. I had already bled all four corners until clear and what came out of the ABS module today was pretty dark, confirming a normal bleed does not include the module.
After running enough cycles to get it clean I bled all four corners again.
It takes two people, one has to keep a foot on the pedal and operate the scanner, the other to work the bleeder. We moved 6oz through it before it cleared up.

FYI: I ran volume calculations for brake line capacity and 2oz will fill almost 20ft of 3/16" OD line. When short pumping not quite to the floorboard into a 6oz measuring glass it once it gets to the end of the hose the level raised 1/3oz per pump.

I think I'm done folks. The braking is notably improved, the fade resistance is much more than that. Clearing the ABS fault and doing the module bleed tamed the system down on panic stops.

I'll clean up the BR5 hardware and see if I can recover $50.00. Heck is one wanted to pay I would strip em for the local powder coater here and rebuild them.

Thanks a million to the krautmaster, and the rest, I'll back off now so there should be less wind blowing around here for a while.Attached Thumbnails

I was changing the oil and rotating the tires today and discovered The BR9 front brakes have been on since 5/25/18 for 6,980 miles now and you can still see the cross-hatching from the machining when they were new..at this rate they will last longer than I will
