R/T Dakota rant
oh sure take the EASY way out..
actually that could be an easy option since you should tear the crate engine down and reassemble it yourself anyways (you cant really trust that the factory got it right no warantee!)

Ever heard of R/T Killer? 318 SLT Stompimg:5301bb35a6 R/Ts. Yes it can be done The biggest difference is the bore size so Lets not get into this argument I have plenty of proof on the 318 vs. 360 subject.

Dollar for Dollar I think your wrong. Can you run a 408 stroker kit on a 318 NO?
If Im not mistaken there is a SMALLER stroker kit for the 318.
BTW... I was not trying to start an arguement. I only wanted to put some facts on the table. Isnt that what message boards are for???

Well lemme think .7L worth of machine work?? would you actually do that to your stock block? more than likely not so Technically I could get a 5.9L magnum block for nothing then it is just a matter of machine work and the 408 kit (BTW that is the smaller of the 2 kits but what would I know Im a girl)

The club cab only weighs 3500lbs dry and the single cab weighs 3100. Thats wh they only have 250HP. Theres no way in hell they would put any more horsepower in a light-assed truck. It would be like driving on ice. Your best best would be to either add a turbo or supercharger to your stock internals (with intake exhaust and fuel control) or my choice would be to do basic machine work to get HP. You could shave a set of 360 magnum heads to raise your compression port them to increase the flow over stock 360 heads have your cam ground by Crower or Lunati to increase the lift and duration and do some fuel mods. A manual trans or a built auto with stall converter and shift kit is the first step.
I could definitely help you get it moving. Have you been to the track yet?

Actually I went to the track last night. Time slips go as follows:
run 1
2 people in truck me driving 1st time down a 1/4 in 5 yrs
r/t- 1.345 ewwwww
60 ft- 2.635
1/4 et - 17.347 @ 77.86
run 2
me bymyself
r/t- 1.039
60 ft- 2.604
1/4 et- 16.874 @81.13
run 3
me bymyself
r/t- .814
60ft- 2.578
1/4 et- 16.854 @ 80.95
run 4
1/2 hour cool down not me driving or in truck
r/t- 1.181
60ft- 2.425
1/4 et- 16.39 @ 81.73
run is the faastest the truck has ever run take into consideration that I am in Phoenix way above sea level and I dont know how to convert the et for sea level. Also I have a set of r/t heads that are getting a 5 angle valve job ported polished and matched to my 4 bbl intake plus 1.7 rockers as far as cam im not worrying about it yet since i am getting a vortech later on. I know of a guy who has a slt like mine that is running 12s on nos and 13s w/ nos. he hasnt done intake cam or heads yet but he is n/a. the wrst thing about these trucks is they arent easy to tune like the omnis and similar vehicles.
Oh yeah I forgot I currently am a one wheel wonder but next month i will be a two wheel wonder I know my r/t time sucked as well as the 60 ft. I get better traction on the street than I do at the track  but thats ok soon i will have a set of slicks for the track.

1. weight reduction
2. traction
3. mods
Start by taking everything you dont need off of the truck and maybe getting a set of lightweight wheels. Do everything you can to reduce the weight.
After that you NEED a limited slip rear end with some steep gears in it and a set of sticky tires.
Then worry about the engine. You need to take the platform you have right now as fast as possible before you waste money on mods. You can break into the 15s without touching the engine.
