Question Best place for corner balancing?

Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could please recommend a good shop in the St. Pete/Tampa area to get my GTI corner balance and aligned? I know S&R does it but I was hoping there was a better place to go. Thanks!

[h=2]Why You Do/Don't Need To Scale A Car[/h]

When a car is scaled, it is done on certain assumptions which may not fit the way you drive. We don't all toss a car into a turn the same way. Most of the time Our head is not in the center of the car, anyway.

It's possible that scaling a car only makes a difference to someone who is either on the limit of their driving skill, or in a highly competitive
class.

I relate it to NASCAR racers making a pit stop and raising or lowering the rear corner of the car by 1/8 inch. If a person's ability is such that they can tell the difference that 1/8" makes, then THAT is the kind of person that spending money for scaling will benefit the most.

If a person has not yet arrived at that level of skill, the money spent scaling the car might be better spent buying extra tires and attending as many driving schools as they can.
-------------------
It's worth pointing out that if a person's driving skill does not match the way the car was scaled, that the person will have to ADAPT their driving to the scaled car......................but if you did NOT have the car scaled, you would ALSO have to adapt your driving....... to the "unscaled" car.........and that "adapting" is called "driving skill"-Bob

So only you can decide if it might make a
difference, whether to you, it is worth the money. For the street, most of the time it doesn't matter.-Bob

Default Alignments

You mentioned aligning.
I have the portable set up for doing alignments
at race tracks, parking lots and anywhere the surface is flat. Same setup they use for indy cars....there are no alignment shops at the 500.

There is more to alignment than setting toe-in. There is a range of alignment that will not eat your tires yet will give you good grip in the turns. Usually I set alignments on the performance side of
factory specs.......everything is a compromise, though.

Vortex motorsports has/had a very sophisticated alignment rack and at one time a good alignment guy. Since then....Changes in ownership....I haven't been out there lately.

I was at the Porsche Dealers cars and coffee sometime back. Saw Dave White, owner of what is now Vortex. He was wearing a shirt that said Chilli's Automotive. You might look them up. -Bob

We do corner balancing and customs alignments.
We just bought a brand new, top of the line alignment machine.
Our rack is set up to do extremely lowered cars.
If anybody else is interested in getting this kind of work done just give us a call at the shop.
