The Official Squid Sighting thread of Tampa
Meh, to each his own. If fucknut over there wants to whine about people that wear gear for safety, that's his problem. Just continue to wear your leathers, and then you can laugh at him when he scrapes his knees up while being a jackass.

HJC helmets are not bad, just aslong as there not the base 99 special helmets. The top of the line HJC is pretty decent.
Mesh does tear apart in a crash, but it is a lot better then no gear. Plus with the back support will help a lot. But in the end leather is always the best, they do make perforated leather jackets and IMO its pretty close to wearing a mesh jacket.
Buying gear that fits properly is another important thing. You can have all the padding in the world, but if your jackets a size up to big it can be very bad. For instance when you land padding will be in the wrong spots, then the leather folds and then the abrasion to the jacket gets worst thats when the leather starts to split open.
Another thing to consider, is how you crash and land. Once you fall down, you want to make sure your on your back. With your arms spread wide, and legs almost in a walking position. Just relax and do not panic, let the slide completely finish. When you start to tumble and roll thats when the bones start to break.

your full of shit and retarded...
you think a mesh jack made for riding is goings to shred just as easy as T-shirt, i have wrecked in mesh it held up fine, have you any prove to your stupid statments
i see broken bones every week for motorcycle wrecks,
and i don't care if you wear a cheap bicycle helmet its better then nothing. you don't have to spend a ton of money to be protected. i think the HJC helmet on my head is safer then your expensive helmet strapped to the back of your bike squid!
so in reality your jacket may help you some but when u hit that pavement that mesh is going to shred just as fast as a squids tshirt. yeah you may have a little bit of hit protection but what happens more? broken bones or road rash? i would think rash but then again i am no pro and am not trying to defend anyone but am more curious. and what brand helmet do you use? bc if its a cheap one its probably going to smash when you hit the ground and not even do much for you anyways. and your telling me when you ride your bike to work, if you do ride it to work that you wear boots and your mesh pants? and you wear those all day at work or what?
"Faster than leather?" Yes.

If im Riding to my headquarters base which is about 10.5 miles away...i pack my uniform in my back pack and change in our locker room...I rarely ride it to my reporting station as I either take the car on shitty day or ride my bicycle due to it only being about half a mile from where i live...but otherwise anytime im out...all my gear all the time...its saved my ass twice.....ill for sure keep it all on...my leather jacket doesnt get that hot as its perforated...so its no different then wearing a tee shirt to me...
The way I see it is that knowledge is the first thing you need to learn. Keep your cushion between cars a safe distance. When you come to a red light watch behind you and be ready to grab the gas if the car behind you slams on his brakes. Dont ride in the middle of the road or do highspeeds around other people on the road. Simple things. Stay focused.
Putting on your 3,000 racing suit wont do shit if your not paying attention. Hell you can wear that thing in a car and still get killed in a crash.
A good helment and jacket is nice to have. Gloves I think are important because every idiot puts their hands out when they fall.
I think a dumb white trash hillbilly with no gear on at all that rode dirt bikes, atvs and motorcycles since he was a kid is way better off than some doctor with his brand new bike and his 8,000 racing suit signed by the whole team.
Some people just dont belong on bikes. A leather racing suit wont change that.
