When it comes down to it. i'd look for a perf leather suit, In the event of u going down im sure you'll be glad you went the extra mile sliding on some skin.

 

the ALPINESTARS jacket i have doesn't have a zipper for it to mate to pants, and i really hate to buy a new jacket just to get pants to connect to them... i'm going to see if somewhere will let me order this suit and when it comes in if i hate it let me use the money toward another... i know i can get that textile suit for around 350-400

so i got my suit, its the joe rocket survivor suit, it fits great, alittle baggy but really conformable plus it has all kinds of adjustable straps, vents and its not to hot at all, with out the liner its perfect for night and early morning riding and days like today...i got this suit at cycle gear for $400 and i feel like i really got alot of protection for not some much cash...

i found it online for $350 shipped but i wasn't sure if i was going to like it and cycle gear would have let me use the money toward credit for anything else i want and they never charge me a restocking fee

Does pavement get harder if you ride more aggressively or something? I was under the impression that a 45MPH collision with a vehicle would test that suit to its limits.

are you guys serious - its not even a full leather race suit its a textile touring suit, B16sleeper i work in the OR and last sat alone we had 3 guys like you wearing only helmets, one was only doing around 45 some were going less and they were fucked up pretty good, skin grafts need for 2 of them and 2 of then had broken bones ( a wrist and a elbow). i know you might think you sooooooo good and carfull that you will never go down but its usually someone else who makes you go down and you can't predict when its going to happen.... if my bike goes down (and you know what they say everyone will crash sometime or another) i want to do as much as i can to make sure i walk away as fine as possible

i wore the suit to and from work today it was hot out and i was as hot as i would have been in my jacket no sweating it wasn't bad at all, i read somewhere a Millimeter of leather is worth 60ft of skin.... i know mine is textile but i'm hoping it helps if i crash...

 

What happened to make that first bike fall? Looks like nothing.

Anyway, textile is good and better than nothing, but a decent slide on the pavement is going to eat right through that stuff. Leather is the way to go and nowadays it's so affordable that there's really no excuse not to have it.
