normal firing order is 1,2,3,4 this one fires 2 at a time. so its more like 1+3, 2+4. that pairing prob isn't right, but you get the idea.

I'll wait to see what it sounds like in person with a pipe on it to judge if I like it. just hoping its not a thumbing twin sound.

just to follow up, after reading more about the r1. it does not have the motogp 2 plugs at a time firing order. which most call the "big bang".

the new r1 just has a weird spacing to its firing order that makes it sound odd, instead of even like normal sounding bike. its a gmick to make it sound like a motogp bike. nothing more. I've also heard but am not sure, that they had to add a balance shaft to the motor to make up for this dumb firing order. where the 2 at a time order wouldn't need this.

the big bang motogp setup, makes less power than the normal screamer setup. they only went with the big bang because it helped the rear tire hook up better off corners.

I'm a yami fan, but damn this is pretty gay of them. and again they still have that stupid dip in power around 5-6k. I've seen where some think that's because of the new cross plane crank/odd firing order. but its not. the r1 has always had that dip. go back to the old exup valve being blamed. then it was the 5 valves per head blamed, then it was adj stacks being blamed. now its the firing order.

non of those reasons are true since the dip can be tuned out of them all with a PC. so its got to be just fuel and spark.
there's got to be some reason they just tune that in to the bikes from the factory. I believe its to make the bike easier to ride.

blah at best.. I'll take an 08 please.. in blue

Big bang is NOT a cross plane crank shaft. Big bang engines use traditional cranks with different camshafts. The new r1 is not a big bang engine.

I'm pretty sure that's what I said lol.

the new r1 is just a gimick to try and sound like a big bang motogp motor.

I had not read up on it before fell for the bullshit thinking it was really setup like motogp stuff.

I misread what you typed, oops

crossplane cranks do not sound like big bangs, big bangs sound like twins. Crossplane cranks virtually eliminate inertial torque, whether the average street rider will notice a difference? doubtful. But the average street rider doesnt need a liter bike anyways, so its more of the same moot bullshit.
