Default rider down, my friend

my friend got t-boned monday night. he had a woman passenger in the back with no helmet. an old guy pulled out from a street and hit them while my buddy was travelling 40mph.

he had a lot of road rash and ripped flesh around his shin/calf area.
his lady friend wasnt too lucky. broken cervical spine, road rash everywhere and a broken leg/or ripped ankle (not really sure)
here are a few pics for you guys

my friend is ok. he cant bear any weight on his right leg. as for his passenger, i havent heard anything from her yet.

and sorry for posting gross pictures. hopefully this will get other riders to think twice about riding around town at night. i warned him a long time ago about that.

he was just wearing a helmet. no gloves or jacket.
we rode two days ago (saturday morning)before this incident happened.
i believe his cbr would need front and right fairings, maybe both forks are bent, headlight smashed and a front rim.

will take pictures later once i see it.

if the other person is at fault, they're pretty much having a free ride ,plus a new bike and they have to take care of all medical expenses. btw he doesnt need insurance if hes not at fault

Unfortunately most Floridians who have insurance only have 10/20 limits which is nearly worthless. Sounds like the girl has $300K-$750K in medical costs alone. I dunno why hospitals even provide bills for this king of shit... they should just hand you bankruptcy paperwork and a note that says "You're fucked, have a nice day!".

this is what i was telling him earlier. he is still trying to obtain the police report and he will go from there (that is what he said). he did say that his riding days are over and will give up riding after everything gets squared away with insurance.

i say get money out of the situation. get the guy at fault's insurance to cover medical bills and pay for the bike. either get it fixed or get a new one.

ill update you guys what he decides to do.
