on the highway doing (jail-time speed here) = (jail-time speed here)+50

Someone watches a little too much MTV.

COPS are public viewed as Heros... a far cry from "Public Enemy #1".

Guess it depends on your perspective....
I could be convinced to believe that 70% of convicted felons or those currently incarcerated do not like Law Enforcement Officers, or any other form of authority for that matter (the woe is me.... I'm a victim mentally cop-out).
Meanwhile, the responsible and contributing members of society have a very favorable impression of Law Enforcement as a whole.

One of the consequences of such notions as "entitlements" is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently just for being nice enough to grace us with their presence.”

While his opinion may have been skewed one way, yours is absolutely skewed the other way. I know a LOT of responsible, contributing, lawful members of society who can't stand 'em. Sorry, but we don't drive by a cop car sitting on the side of the road and think, "Wow, there is a public hero!"

One huge mistake people make when running is just gassing it and going straight... hit a few rights and left and get as far away from the initial chase started and then just chill and go home. instead of going 180 and puting everyone at risk.
