700lbs.. lol.... ALOT more then that.

A full bagger Harley dry weight is 900lbs. Add all of the added police gear (lighting, wiring, communications, stuff in bags, etc) and your looking at easily a 1700lbs bike.

This is even off the HD page.

WEIGHT

GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING 1200 lbs.

also, you can't tell by the video, but every funeral I've been too, all the cars were marked with magnetic cones or flags on their roof that had FUNERAL writen on them.

I doubt the driver of the SUV even saw the cop.

Maybe, but without seeing the shot from the perspective of the SUV it is hard to say.

What I do see on the video is the motorcycle swerving into the SUV!?! He had plenty of room if he just stayed in the lane he was in while passing the video car. He had to go out of his way to swerve right into the SUV that would have been clear of the video car (and the motorcycle if he didn't swerve). Also, why was the video car so far from the car in front of it? If the video car was in the funeral procession, they should have been right behind the car in front of them, not half a block away.

In any case, I think it is really hard to say this is the SUV driver's fault. I bet 99% of people would have gone after sitting at that stop sign waiting for God knows how many cars that were clearly in the funeral procession to pass by. She finally gets half a block gap and decides to go... I probably would have to if that motorcycle was hidden behind the video car.
exactly
it just goes to show that cops have their heads up their asses all of the time. but its ok that they make mistakes because they have such a stressful hard job and blah blah blah. they chose that job, they should have the metal aptitude to handle it. Its a shame that most of them as fucking idiots. Not all, but more than enough to assume that the cop trying to pull you over is an asshole
From what I can see in the video, the SUV was sitting there getting rather inpatient, saw a gap, that was more than big enough, and went for it. I don't know anyone that would get in their big SUV just to ride around town with nowhere to go. They had somewhere they needed to be.
Sure, if you want to get technical, the SUV should have waited, but any normal person would have gone. The cop caused the wreck. People getting hurt was the cops fault. But because cops are above the law, the wrong people have to pay the price.

Your arguement is pointless.Thats like me slamming my car into you off a stop sign then blaming you for doing 3mph over the limit

ya 1 cop drops back to direct at an intersection while everyone passes and when they are all through he speeds ahead too get back in line with all the other bikes.

The SUV was stopped. The Police officer was hauling ass and looked to be weaving through traffic and got fucked up. Both at fault, but The only thing I see the SUV doing wrong is trying to go through a funerals traffic.
"What is she doing, this is a funeral" /fat black lady

At a funeral Drive cops will have to speed to each intersection to stop cross traffic. You can't have the whole police dept at each intersection. There isn't normally enough cops. Just like this past Christmas when we all did a benefit ride here in Hernando County. The Sheriff's Office would fly by us in the very left lanes to stop traffic at each intersection from the Walmart On US19 all the way to the Sheriff's Office. I do agree that this officer on the bike was going way to fast in a two lane road and should have realized that this wasn't a chase this was to protect the public in a funeral. But hey he learned the hard way and I hope that he and the people he hit are ok.

I agree they are both partially at fault, the SUV for splitting a funeral procession (if she knew she was splitting a funeral procession) and the cop for riding like a dick (you don't have to ride wrecklessly to block traffic for a funeral procession). The only problem is the cop is going to be hailed as a hero for doing his dangerous job while the driver of the SUV is going to get F'ed with various tickets, fines, insurance rate hike, etc. If they are both partially responsible the consequences should be balanced - so either punish both of them or neither of them.

Judging from your post you have no clue how a motorcycle cop directs traffic which can get very hectic. Mostly if by some miracle (you're gonna laugh but it happens quite often) the lead cars in a funeral procession are driving way too fast from a traffic signal or turn or w/e and it creates an accordion effect (just like riding in a group of bikes and the lead rider takes off) which causes big gaps in the line of cars. This cop was obviously tasked with leading a line of cars way too big for what he could safely handle... Now is it the cops fault for trying to do his job with what he was given and speeding ahead to go block off more idiot car/suv drivers so this funeral procession can get through? Not at all. It's the SUV driver who had his head up his ass and pulled out trying to get across a gap in a funeral procession which is against the law. The SUV driver broke the law, and subsequently got owned by the cop doing his job well within the law and got fined for it. I hope the cop AKA fellow motorcycle rider is alright, and the dumb fucks in the SUV as well.

Next time you see a rider down thread, and you see the quote from the tampa bay times or whatever other press covers motorcycle accidents. The top thing you'll see the car driver say after he just killed someone on a motorcycle is... "He came out of nowhere" Grats on depth perception, being patient and having some respect for people out on the road, especially motorcycles which in most cases are 1 hit KOs. alright this rant is done, go ahead ill get on my flame suit for the FTP posts to follow.

Obviously this poor innocent SUV driver should be given a medal for breaking the law and fucking up a guy doing his job.
