This little rant deserves little in way of response as far as I'm concerned. Your ethuggery is unimpressive.

The bike owner took the bike to the shop partially disassembled for a reason, most likely an effort to spend as little as possible on labor (which is fine). To then expect the shop to do more labor for free is not fair to the business in my opinion. You won't find too many shops that are willing to give you their resources (tools) to work on your own stuff at their shop so that you can avoid paying them to do it. If you find one, let me know, I'd love access to a four post lift and an alignment machine. Fasteners aren't free, look at the faring stay mounts in the original pictures. If the windscreen fasteners were in similar shape, it's no wonder that they weren't reusable. The zip ties are a viable temporary solution to the problem.

I'm not trying to paint the bike owner in a negative light, I can see all of this going down without any malicious intent from anyone. I don't believe that this experience is indicative of what RTM customers normally see. I think there were some mistakes made and it has snowballed into an unnecessarily public discussion, mostly among people who were not involved at all (myself included of course).

i wasnt going to post anything about this.. untill u starting talking shit... iv helped at a bike shop(exoticycle) and we would always do free stuff for ppl.. if fasters were missing, find sum used ones an put them in.. go out the way to make things right.. the whole zip tie thing is a fucking joke.. im sorry. just tell the kid to buy sum fasters.. the're like what $15bucks?... as for paying for putting farings on.. holy shit.. like what 4-6 bolts... come the fuck on.. about the gasket. wtf were they thinking.. gasket maker isnt going to stop it from leaking without a gasket.. any fuckturd knows that..

and iv been to 3-4 different bike shops and they let me use the're tools and let me go threw used parts... shit i almost build my whole bike at johnny's shop(exoticycle) and never charged me for useing his tools or for his help.. again thats why he always has ppl coming back for work.. i never been to rtm but sounds like the're just after a quick buck..

hey man feel free to take your bike were every you like. however keep this in mind. they knew they were half assing it putting it back together the way they did. and if they are any kind of bike mechanic at all they know what would happen should their half ass repair fail. everyone knows oil and tires don't mix.
so next time you take your bike there don't worry about it. they have your safty and best interest in mind.

wait wait so ur saying just because he didnt get hurt that he should give the bike shop another chance? im not usually one to say what if's are fine but in this situation a what if could of been deadly.. which in my book is not right.. just because he had luck on his side of him not going down he should go back and say hey guys u really fucked up on my bike before can u at least try to get it all right this time? and i dont know what bike shops you have been to but all the ones i go to esp kawi on 34th st and 34ave in st.pete are extremely nice and always willing to work with u... shit i didnt have the right tools at my house to put on my chain and sprockets on and he only charged me $15 to do it... they have offered me parts if i needed them and they even let me use their tooks to put on my frame sliders because i dont have a compressor at my house... this isnt a car that were messing with its a bike and with a bike comes the love and passion we all have... every shop is different its not like a car shop where they just throw the shit back together... they look it over and test ride them a couple of times and if the shit isnt right the 1st time they go back and do it again... like stated above u can keep taking ur bike there but they lost my business before i even seen the shop...

I guess I haven't made it as clear as I thought I did.

If I were in the situation described in this thread, as soon as I noticed oil on the bike, I'd have been in contact with RTM. I would not have gone public with my problem before discussing it with the shop owner. If they were closed when I noticed it, I'd have paid out of pocket to get the bike home, rented a car, whatever I needed to do, with the full intention of being reimbursed by the shop for any money I spent as a reaction to their bad work. If they gave me any trouble at all, then going public with the experience would be in my back pocket as leverage to ensure that the situation is taken care of to my satisfaction. A lot of you disagree with me, and as I mentioned before that is your prerogative. I'm clearly outnumbered here so we'll just go ahead and say that the rest of you win and I lose.

I'm real sorry to hear about your problems with RTM. I've dealt with RTM many times for tires and a battery for my 954. They always gave me great service and prices. My 954 is past due for a valve inspection and I was planning on using RTM. We shall see. They (RTM) better post something about this obvious screw up. They should not have given the bike back without a proper gasket.

Even if they repair everything good as new I am glad he posted his situation to warn the rest of us... It is hard enough to find places that will not screw you over, feedback from other patrons is the best weapon customers have in insuring quality work. If the business in question didn't want bad publicity they should not have screwed over their customer. How hard would it have been to tell him the problems they ran into along the way and the current state of his bike? They tried to let it slide by and even charged him extra!

a respectable shop would never need a "CHANCE" to redeem themselves....shop to owner talks should have been made...i.e. you need a new gasket would u like for us to get it or would u like to get it...but no there was no communiction from the shop from what i gather....pretty shitty deal going on here somebody got shafted and as stated i appreciate the heads up for a shitty shop....but on the other hand i do all my own work and would never trust any shop with my bike...but im one of the few that do that anymore...so in another look its kinda the risk you take when u cant do it yourself....best of luck to you man...hope they take care of you and your sitution...

I hang out at franks shop sometimes when I buy stuff. This guy has sold me my oil and let me do the change there.Sold me my pc111 usb and helped me install it and map it.I hang out there at times and help others on their bikes.I love helping people and learning more about bikes.I saw this cat pull in and was totally shocked.Maybe I shouldn't have gone about it this way,but wow I just couldn't believe a shop would do what I was looking at.
I told the owner I was going to take pics and post his story for other people to know what happened.I feel I needed to warn others on what happened and I stand by my post.I don't know how he even made it to the shop with all that oil on his tires/brakes
