This is a good thread. Im in the market for some new gear. Right now I have a tecknic jacket, HJC cl-15 helmet, and a pair of Icon gloves. My jacket did a good job during my lil mishap last year. Im convinced that if i hadn't had my jacket i would have completely broken my shoulder vs a minor sprain. But its worn from washing now and my riding skill is a lot better. I've been thinking about getting a Rocket jacket and maybe a Scorpion Helmet. They have a new Helm coming in July that I think is very comfortable. Im not so happy with the HJC. What other advice do you guys have for some kick ass comfy but effective gear?

both HJC and KBC have saved my life. (lids with heavy impact from road) and icon ,joe rocket and buell have saved my skin from jackets and gloves. i recommend them all, but i dont ride at all without atleast a lid and some gloves. thats my minimal. helmet because its your life, and gloves because i hear it hurts the worst and you put them down on the road first when going down, so duh. wear some. i just buy cheap lid and decent gloves. i got icon pursuit gloves now and im happy with them, and i got a no fear moto-x lid i wear on the street. ill be getting another $99.99 street lid from KBC cause like i sayed, it worked for me landing on my face going 60mph so im sure it will work for you, plus its 99 bucks + tax. you cant fucking beat that in the lid dept. i cant see paying 600 for race replica bs lids that you replace just the same as a cheapo one when you go down once. eff that. plus you worry about sratching it, lol...

i throw all my gear in the corner of the room without thinking about scratches n shit anyways, cause of pets and nasty shit you will come in contact with that will ruien it anyways. pluss it will smell from riding no matter how much you take care of it. IMO

sorry for bad spelling.

I've got these gloves:

Moto GP RPM Motorcycle Gloves :: New Enough Motorcycle Apparel

And this mesh jacket in grey (plan on getting a leather jacket when the weather becomes a little more tolerable):

MotoGP Closeouts Closeout GP Mesh Jackets from RideGear.com - Street Jackets and other gear for

Closeouts on both, shopped around and these look like some awesome deals.

Also plan on getting the Scorpion EXO-400 Dog Fight helmet with mirrored shield.

definitely get a good helmet and some gloves, dont get those mechanix gloves that are cloth, they wont do anything to protect your hands. find something that will protect you, but something u feel comfortable in, whether its the icon armor u can wear or a jacket. i use the icon armor and also have a jacket, but when its too hot for a jacket ill throw the elbow pads and chest protector on. as for gloves, i use leather alpinestars (not sure of the model though), and for a helmet i use the shoei x-eleven

I think one thing that cannot be reiterated enough is getting a leather suit. If you really want to do everything you can to protect yourself, don't fool yourself into thinking that wearing jeans is doing anything (scientifically proven!)

The Fieldsheer suit everyone is talking about, and many people on this board own, has been crash tested by several people and has stood up to the test.

And here is a photo of the man that started it all!!!!

Best bang for the buck! I bought my 2 piece suit on sale for $320 shipped. It will be hard to find a deal that good, but you should be able to score one around $400+/-
That is jacket and pants with armor built in most of it. For the price you pay of just buying a jacket or pants, you can have a suit.

If you want protection, get this suit. Hands down the best bang for the buck I've run across for gear.
