I am going to go to classes, I'm not dumb. Alot of my friends are worried about my safety because I like to go fast, so for my safety and their peace of mind I'm going to go to a class. My friend told me that the 250 was not worth the price that I was looking at. Like I said, I don't know much about bikes that's why I'm here, to find information. I doubt that I'll be able to buy another bike next year, because my parents are buying this for me as a present so that's why I want to buy something good. I also heard that the 250 maxes out at 100mph.

have you looked at a 500?? and if your going to go to a class than get a 600.. i got a 636 as my 1st bike, but i rode dirtbikes so i knew the basics of riding.. dont get on a bike until you have the class... its a big help... but its all about the feeling for you... like for example... i dont like the gsxr's my friend has one and i rode on his and didnt like how it felt... but i love how my bike feels... put it this way... the way you drive your car is going to be the way you ride... if you have a lot of close calls when driving your going to have lots of close when your riding...

why are you worried about a bike maxing out? anybody can yank a throttle... learn to corner, then things start getting intrersting and skill comes into to play...

unless you plan to stunt then you would want a bigger bike...

you could always start on a 600...if your parents are paying for it get something you can live with for awhile...

and if you worried its to much power look at me.my first bike was a 750

and speed is addicting but after getting it up there- its just not worth taking a spill at speed when you can do it on a track and have a better chance walking away from the accident.

Yeah I just got my school parking tag taken away today for speeding and drifting in the parking lot. So it's probably a bad idea to get a big bike. I'm not really going to do stunts as much as speed. I'm always addicted to speed, rather it be like running, on my car, or on my boat. That's why when I heard that the 250 tops out at 100 was like a big con. I'm looking at a 04 Kawasaki Ninja 500R for 3 grand.

The 250 can go 110mph... that is fast enough for the street. It sounds like you are looking to be hot doggin around town like a squid if that isn't fast enough.

A 500 can go about 120ish... no that much faster.

Taking into consideration recent events, A guy lost his life going 50mph on a road with bends I love going 120mph+ on... That along with the fact that I went down @ the track on a similar bend, going 100+ made me realize had it happened to me on the street I would have been dead...

So why you wanna go over a 100mph for? You wanna drag race??? if not, then rethink your goals with the new toy...

Now I will agree the 250 & 500 don't look so hot... in that case a ZZR600, YZF600r or even an R6s are more than you should be considering, but look a heck of a lot better and can go about 140+ (if going that fast makes you think you are "fast")

Can any of you guys actually say that you haven't done any crazy things on your bikes? I'm mostly going to drive it normally, I'm not going to be a speed demon going down a street, but I'm not going to lie, at times I am going to go fast. I was only doing that in the parking lot because I waited thirty minutes after all the students had left and there were no cars but mines and my friends. My spending limit is going to be 3 grand on a bike, so I can't get anything that's outragiously fast, but I want something nice and solid.
