First bike
When i was looking to buy my first bike i sorta went by what i have ridden before which in the bike world was nothing but i do have a 660rr raptor so i thought a 750 would be enough... No one told me to make sure it was EFI but i will tell you to make sure it is because i got stuck with an 06 suzuki katana 750 which isn't that bad for a first bike but after 3k miles on it its very boring to drive, because of the slowness of carburetors(sp) and how damn heavy the bike is. my payments are only $89 a month though.

Sorry that I this is my first post. I learned of this site from my friend Chris last night at Hot Import Night, and I told him that I was looking into buying a motorcycle and he said to come to this site for help. But to the ones that were trying to help me thank you. I'm not like afraid and I'm def. looking into going to take classes after I buy a bike. I'm thinking of a 600 cc engine will be good. I saw a 250 cc Kawasaki Ninja, CycleTrader.com, but I found out that
it wasn't a good bike. So now I'm looking onto something bigger than 250.

If you ask me... you should buy the 250 or something cheaper so that you can beat the shit out of that before you spend more on a diff bike.
You'll also notice that in this forum there are a bunch that avoid sensible choices such as the Ninja 250 that can't even ride it to its limits.

Greetings!
A used Ninja 500R (like you linked too) would be a great first time bike.
Please take the MSF class before getting the bike. They provide the bikes to use for the course and they usually also provide helmets if needed. Check out this link: Motorcycle Safety Foundation Lots of good info at that link and will also tell you how to find classes in your area.
Don't let friends or relatives teach you to ride.
Don't forget to budget in money for proper riding gear. Helmet, Motorcycle Jacket, Motorcycle Gloves, Motorcycle boots, riding pants. All The Gear All The Time (ATGATT) Proper gear will keep a minor spill minor.
I strongly urge you to not ride with any of your friends for awhile. Get a solid foundation of skill sets down while riding solo before trying to ride with a group of peers.

I owned a Ninja 250cc back in the day... who told you it wasn't a good bike? And why wasn't it?

He's a smart mofugga
i wonder if people really listen to us??? u think hes actually going to get the MSF course done before he buys the bike??
and why u hating on the 250's?? if your "too" cool to get a 250 than get a 500... thats if you've never had any riding experience before.. its a good starter/learning bike and if you drop it...o well, thats why you got it for your 1st bike... but if you start off on a nice 600 and youve never riden before the chances of you getting that pretty bike all scratched up are pretty high.. get the proper gear and not just a helmet and the ICON chest/back protector...

Man, dont listen to crap like this.
Some people try to point you in the wrong direction.
What you really need to do is take the course, buy your gear, and wait until next year when the Hayabusa 1500 is released.
Buy one of those.
Theyre great starting bikes.
ya i guess your right.... their light and they dont have much power... i mean... what are you expecting from a suzuki...
