Rear tire life?
I wouldnt say I'm a soft rider at all, but more of a sensible responsible rider. I ride according to the conditions around me, believe me Im on it every chance thats available. Central florida is very congested which means the style of riding Id like to do isnt always possible. Iv had several bikes been riding for about 12 years . 8,000 miles is the most Iv ever gotten out of a tire, thats why I was curious about tire life and peoples own personal experiences with different brands of tires.
The first 1000 miles on the bike was a break in period, if some of you dont believe in proper break in periods thats your own personal decision, but I can tell you from years and years of being around engine building and street class drag racing it goes a long way to extending engine life.
I wasnt trying to be cheap by getting as much out of a tire as I could, I just thought 8,000 miles on the dunlop was outstanding tread wear, granted some of you based on your riding style probably could have trashed it in 3000 miles.

Do you just troll around waiting for something to say....I never said you have to ride hard...all I said is that I was surprised to see someone get 8,000 miles out of a rear on a liter bike and that he must be taking it easy on the throttle to get that kind of tire life......don't be a jackass

My thought on tires is that you should buy a tire that suits your style of riding. If your not using your SuperSport tire to all of it's ability, then why replace it with another expensive sticky low milage tire? Try something alittle harder in compound, like the Pirelli Diablo Strada. It's still a plenty sticky tire, but you'll get alot more miles out of it then say a Diablo Corsa or Pilot Power. If you find your riding style changes and your sliding the tires then go to stickier rubber.

Does it affect you that much that some random guy 1500 miles away went and paid his own money for a 1000?
Do we really have to fight over who uses the back brake or not?
Do you have to argue over stupid pointless shit on the Internet?

OEM tires have different compounds then what you normally buy. Go price a OEM tire and see how expenisve they are compared to a off the shelf. I would only get 3 - 4 K miles out of Diablo rear. I have about 2K on a pair of pilot powers and they still look new.

That's a good point. The OEM tires usually have a letter designation following the name of the tire. Those tires are built to manufacturer spec.
Your doing pretty good on those powers. I only got 2500 out of my set. The front tire was cupped so bad by that time I didnt want to replace them. I'm running Qualifiers right now, and I'm pretty happy with them. They dont seem to slide around as much as the Pilot Powers. (It's hard for me to say that because I said I would never run another Dunlop tire).
It's hard for me to say how I like the Qualifier compared to the Diablo Corsa, but both tires feel similar. That's my .02.

Just wanted to bring that point up so he doesn't wonder why those "same" Dunlops didn't last as long.
I am a bit shocked that 2500 miles is all you got out those Pilot Powers. I have 1 trackday on my set and the rest are street miles. I do however try to avoid interstate riding.
I am going to the gap this weekend so I am sure mine will be shot to shit afterwards. I am doing a trackday in November so I am hoping the new 2CT Pilot Powers will be out by then.
